Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 October 2026

In short

We collect little. What you send through our forms reaches us and our service providers. The demo runs in your browser and sends nothing. We do not sell personal information.

01

Who we are

AfriScore Technologies ("AfriScore", "we", "us") is based in Yaoundé, Cameroon, and operates this website and the AfriScore demo. For the personal data described in this policy, we decide how and why it is used. You can reach us at privacy@afriscore.africa.

02

What this policy covers

This policy covers visitors to afriscore.africa, people who contact us, and organisations that apply for the pilot. It does not cover borrower data processed through the AfriScore API on behalf of a lender. That is explained under "AfriScore as a service" below.

03

Information we collect

Information you give us: when you submit the pilot application, contact or waitlist form, you provide details such as your name, work email, institution, country, approximate loan volume and any message you write. If you book a call, the scheduling tool collects your name and email. Information we receive automatically: like most websites, our hosting provider records technical data such as IP address, browser and device type, pages requested and timestamps in server logs. Information that stays on your device: the demo processes everything you type in your browser and never sends it to a server, and your cookie choices and language preference are stored on your device.

04

How and why we use information

We use the information above to respond to your messages, to assess and run pilot applications, to keep the website secure and working, to meet legal obligations and, if you joined the waitlist, to tell you about AfriScore. Our legal bases are, depending on the case: our legitimate interests in running and securing the site and answering business enquiries, steps taken at your request before entering into an agreement, compliance with legal obligations, and your consent where it is required, for example for optional cookies.

05

AfriScore as a service

When a lender or bank uses the AfriScore API or a pilot, the lender decides what borrower data to send and why. AfriScore processes that data only on the lender’s instructions, under a written data processing agreement. This website does not receive borrower data. Please do not enter real personal data of real people in the demo or the try-it console.

06

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the site, under their own privacy terms: our hosting provider (Vercel), our form-processing provider (Formspree), the content delivery network that serves our cookie banner (jsDelivr) and, if you book a call, our scheduling tool (Calendly). We may also disclose information where the law requires it or to protect our rights.

07

International transfers

Some of these providers process data outside the country where you live, including in the United States and the European Union. Where applicable law requires safeguards for such transfers, we rely on the measures our providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.

08

How long we keep information

We keep information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected. Enquiries that do not lead to a business relationship are reviewed periodically and deleted when no longer needed. Server logs are kept for a short period set by our hosting provider. Records tied to a pilot or a contract are kept for the length of that relationship and any period the law requires.

09

Security

Forms are sent over HTTPS, access to the information we hold is limited to people who need it, and we choose providers that apply recognised security practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. To use these rights, write to privacy@afriscore.africa. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

11

Cookies and similar technologies

We use one first-party cookie to remember your cookie choices, and your browser’s local storage to remember your language preference. See the Cookie Policy for details and for how to change your choices.

12

Children

This website is intended for professionals and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13

Automated decisions

The demo produces an illustrative score from the values you enter. It is not a credit decision about you, it uses synthetic training data, and no real person’s credit is affected by it.

14

Links to other sites

Our pages link to third-party sites such as publishers, Amazon, SSRN, Academia, LinkedIn and Calendly. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

15

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product and the law evolve. We will post the new version here with a revised date and, for material changes, make this clear on the site.
